Children’s Lighting was our inspiration for this month’s lighting feature. We were inspired by contemporary lighting that could translate into children’s lighting designs for a boy’s and girl’s room. We then took our lighting choices and were able to create colorful and trendy spaces. Children’s lighting can be playful and fun, but if you want a design that would last for the years to come, contemporary lighting selections are great investments in a child’s space.

The Crystorama Lighting | 5404 | Abbie 4 Light Chandelier was our inspiration to create a design fit for a girl’s room. With its delicate crystal flowers and antique white finish, it’s a chandelier that will be age appropriate for a girl’s room. A simple shaped table lamp from Robert Abbey | W3323 | Harriet Collection, will add dimension to the space with its tall height and playful curved base. A table lamp with this type of design is sure to be your best portable investment. A colorful accent wall will always need a finishing touch! Adding wall décor to help pull your design together will bring excitement and depth. Cyan Lighting | 01860 | Flora Mirror is a unique find that will do the trick, it adds interest and could be used on any color wall palette if you decide to freshen up your wall colors later.

Robert Abbey | 138R | Mr. Puppy table lamp was our inspiration for a boy’s room. With its golden Saki fabric shade and Tudor bronze metal finish, it provides a sophisticated design, but playful theme to the space. A 3-way switch is the perfect function to any table lamp because it provides light bright enough for tasks and dims just enough before bedtime. Adding a Justice Design Group | CLD-9695 | Clouds square semi-flush mount is the perfect selection for ambient lighting. Its unique shade material allows the fixture to be attractive while on and off. Cyan Lighting | 02796 | Bicycle bookends complete a playful look when holding story time books.

Try to keep in mind that an interesting design scheme in a child’s room doesn’t have to be focused around bright colors and cartoonish themes. Kids lighting can be simple and still maintain intricate details that are youthful and playful. Contemporary lighting creates focal points in the space and allows for color schemes and décor to be limitless. Window treatments, accent walls, beddings to rugs, all can be colors of your choice and are easy to update! If you don’t want to commit to a wall color, try playful patterns and interesting textile designs to interject pops of color in a child’s room.
