How to Install Track Lighting

1. Turn the Power Off
Any time you work with electric wiring or installing new fixtures, be sure to turn off your power for safety. The last thing you want is for anyone to get hurt during your home improvement.
2. Make Sure You Have All Required Pieces
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary components and tools for a successful assembly and installation. This will include:
Pro Tip: When you buy a track lighting kit, you have everything you need included in the kit—except the screwdriver!
3. Feed the wires from the floating feed adapter through the mounting plate.
4. Connect the adapter wires to the junction box using the wire nuts. Match like colors.
5. Fasten the floating feed mounting plate to the junction box.
6. Use your track stick to mark where your screw holes will go on the ceiling or other mounting surface. Then, drill holes for the drywall anchors and install them as needed.
7. Position the track stick so it crosses the mounting plate. Then tighten the mounting plate screw on both sides of the track stick, and securely fasten the track stick to the ceiling or other mounting surface using the screws.
8. Attach the floating feed adapter, making sure the two contacts on the adapter line up with the copper conductors in the track stick. Press the tab and twist the adapter into place.
9. Troubleshooting: If you find it difficult to get the adapter into place, double-check your alignment.
10. Screw the floating feed cover to the mounting plate so the floating feed adapter is covered.
12. Finally, turn on the power and begin using your track lighting system!
